Learn How Our Program Works
One of the missions of Gift of Life, is to help patients battling blood cancer find healthy donors. Matching donors and recipients depend on different genetic factors, so we need as many people as possible. We depend on students like you to help find those potential donors.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the responsibility of a Campus Ambassador?
A Campus Ambassador (CAP) is responsible for spreading awareness of Gift of Life and the mission of curing blood cancers and disorders through stem cell donation, to encourage people to join the marrow registry.
Are there specific goals and/or requirements to be in the Campus Ambassador Program?
Yes. Each Campus Ambassador has a designated Gift of Life employee that will mentor them throughout their time in the program. This mentorship includes training, support, planning and preparation for events to spread awareness and allow people to join the registry. A semester goal will be established between the mentor and Campus Ambassador, and this is dependent on things such as the campus’s student population, number of CAPs on campus, and the history of activity on campus. The methods in which we spread awareness are presentations and tabling on campus.
What is the time commitment of being a Campus Ambassador?
The more time you commit, the bigger the impact you make, ultimately creating opportunities to save more lives. However, there is an expectation that you be actively engaged with hosting events and spreading awareness on campus. Most of the time needed will be dedicated to organizing events to get people to join the registry. Events can include presentations to clubs, organizations, fraternities and sororities, and even classes, as well as tabling on campus grounds.
Is the Campus Ambassador Program a paid internship?
The Campus Ambassador Program offers incentives. The CAPs have a designated mentor who will share how the incentive program works in detail during the interview process.
What are some of the best ways to be successful as a Campus Ambassador?
First and foremost, have fun! Saving lives is a serious mission, but the joy in doing so deserves to be showcased and positive energy produces positive outcomes. Also, get involved with other things that create a platform to spread awareness for Gift of Life. Remember, you can always invite friends and classmates to join the Campus Ambassador Program and partner together to run drives! We encourage everyone in the program to join forces with like-minded people to make a longstanding impact.
